About Me
I'm Dr Thomas Caspritz, a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Internist based in Christchurch and Timaru. I have over 20 years of international experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of digestive and liver conditions.
I’m accredited in gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the New Zealand Conjoint Committee and perform advanced procedures including Video Capsule Endoscopy and Hydrogen breath testing. Since 2020, I’ve led the National Bowel Screening Programme (NBSP) in South Canterbury.
I’m a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association, with a strong focus on patient-centred care and clear, personalised treatment plans.
My approach is grounded in thorough assessment, clear communication, and tailored treatment plans designed to meet each patient’s individual needs.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my family — particularly boating in the Marlborough Sounds, skiing, and playing music.
